PRESS RELEASE

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, September 16, 2016 – Pitman Creek Wholesale the leading distribution company in the Bass Fishing segment of the sporting goods industry has partnered with Warehouse Mobile Solutions, a Logistics Solutions provider to implement WarehouseOS , “WOS”. This Tablet Directed, Barcode/Order Fulfillment Solution was integrated into their new distribution center located in Danville, Kentucky. Utilizing the latest version of WOS, Version 2.6, integrated with their host ERP, Pitman Creek has achieved impressive improvements in fulfillment metrics over the past year as a result of relocating to their new distribution center now being fully managed by WOS.

unnamed-1

Utilizing all of the WOS APP’s Pitman Creek manages the flow of products from the time they are received through putaway, picking, replenishment and packing. This process involves 45 operators on the floor utilizing iPads mounted in lite injection molded enclosures all tracked and managed to ensure full accountability with a commitment to process orders the same day they are received. As Chief Operations Officer for Pitman Creek, John Johnson understands the importance of achieving maximized efficiencies within the fulfillment process and rewarding operators accordingly. “We needed a warehouse operations system to effectively implement a picking and packaging incentive program for personnel based upon their unnamed-1production. With the powerful API’s incorporated within WOS, we were able to implement a process to track each operator’s activity and display in real time, on metrics boards located throughout the facility, their current production rates. Coupled with the simple user interface and visibility of iPads we have been able to achieve our desired efficiencies,” says John. “After the first year of operation Pitman Creek has achieved efficiency improvements in every aspect of our operation. We have seen the following improvements:”

  • Picks per minute per operator from less than 6 to some now achieving as high as 8.5 (over 500 picks per hour).
  • Daily fill rates (orders shipped same day) from 84% to over 92%
  • Ability to effectively manage inventory control on all stock keeping units.
  • Output pieces per minute for the overall facility increased from 45 to 83 – an increase of 85% to an average of 5,000 pieces per hour.

Utilizing their custom developed warehouse management system became difficult as business grew to purchasing products from over 300 manufacturers and receiving over 200,000 units weekly. In addition, a simple process to receive and putaway these products required the ability to manage receipts via temporary home, back stock and pick/storage locations. Functions WOS could accomplish with full traceability throughout each step of the process. The implementation of WOS made it possible to utilize a small Bluetooth scanner connected to an iPad , eliminating the large cumbersome hand held scanners requiring constant maintenance and attention. Operators can now spend time doing warehouse functions uninterrupted by hardware and software issues.

The system implemented for Pitman Creek utilizes iPads mounted in our new lite injection molded enclosures. The enclosures are equipped with a quick disconnect system attaching to their mobile picking carts, equipped with a swivel bracket. This unique design allows operators to store and pick products without the use of paper or cumbersome hand-held mobile terminals. Operators simply scan items and locations as directed by the mounted tablet devices. The tablets are controlled wirelessly by a system manager connected through Wi-Fi to our Tablet DirectorTM software. Tablet DirectorTM releases orders, schedules operators activities, and tracks in-process orders throughout the entire order fulfillment process.

When it comes to productivity in the warehouse, too often plant managers and distribution center managers confuse how software and scanners impact the time it takes to fulfill customer orders. Having employees tethered to cumbersome hand- held terminals while trying to key in information on a small, hard-to-read screen prevents maximized picking rates and optimal order accuracy.

New solutions are moving away from the RF guns and are demonstrating double picking rates after only 10 minutes of training with enclosures mounted to mobile picking carts.  The leader in these new technologies, Warehouse Mobile Solutions, makers of WarehouseOS, recently exhibited at MODEX in Atlanta, GA, the largest materials handling show in North America.  Coining the Twitter hashtag #ditchtheRF, there is a strong movement to tablets as the preferred mechanism in materials handling.

The company recently completed the installation of its Tablet Directed, Barcode/Order Fulfillment Solution, at Hot Shots Distributing located in Charlotte, North Carolina. For nearly two decades the company has been supplying the fiery food industry with over 1,400 fiery products.  Utilizing the latest version of WOS, Version 2.0, fully integrated with Hot Shots ERP system, order fulfillment, and inventory management are now a paperless process.

After an extensive search to find a software solution capable of providing full inventory control and the ability to fulfill customer orders utilizing visualization without the need of cumbersome hand-held scanners, Hot Shots Distributing “Hot Shots” selected this warehouse management solution as increasing sales growth and the expansion of new product lines made it critical to eliminate paper for picking, moving to a barcode picking system. The implementation of WarehouseOS made this possible since items are now quickly scanned and verified utilizing a small blue tooth scanner connected to an iPad® mounted on their mobile picking carts incorporating a quick disconnect system.  Actual images of each product are displayed on the tablet screen so pickers can clearly identify the correct product.

The software was integrated with Hot Shots ERP system to distribute customer orders directly to warehouse personnel for highly efficient order fulfillment and extremely accurate inventory management.  This fully integrated solution Hot Shots can rapidly fulfill orders by picking with full product visualization. The integration to Hot Shots ERP software was done utilizing the powerful API’s of the WarehouseOS software, seamlessly integrated into a facility within a few weeks.

A new feature added to the product is the Metrics Leader Board. This leader board is displayed on a larger screen LCD mounted in the warehouse (or on a laptop monitor in a supervisor’s office) providing full visibility of the progress of orders on an hourly basis. The metrics leader board was customized for Hot Shots to show the overall progress of orders to be fulfilled for both the current day in addition to all orders in queue. As units are picked by operators the total quantity is displayed in real-time on an hour per hour basis throughout the day.  If the number of orders to be shipped for the entire day will not be achieved based on the current hourly rate, the hourly progress bar turns red indicating to the pickers they are falling behind. An image of each operator is displayed on a scrolling bar indicating their overall units picked for the day and average units picked per hour. The operator with the highest hourly rate is highlighted in red, indicating to the other operators who is the fastest picker for the day. This feature can be utilized to reward high achieving employees and incentivize others to improve their picking rates.

The Warehouse Mobile Solutions system implemented for Hot Shots incorporates 10 iPads mounted in New Lite injection molded enclosures utilizing a quick disconnect system and 16 mobile picking carts, each equipped with a swivel bracket designed to accept the iPad Lite enclosures. This unique design allows operators to store and pick products without the use of paper or cumbersome hand-held mobile terminals. Operators simply scan items and locations as directed by the mounted tablet devices. The tablets are controlled wirelessly by a system manager, Tablet Director, which releases orders, schedules operators’ activities, and tracks in-process orders throughout the entire order fulfillment process.

Whether through the cloud or integrated in plant facility LAN, this new technology creates a highly effective and efficient warehouse management system created by warehouse professionals to cut the order processing time in half.  Composed of several applications that work in concert with one another, directs work between all tablets on the warehouse floor.  The system operates in conjunction with a SQL Database that can get work done faster and better than any RF Gun solution. The data flow to and from the iPads ensures clean data flow back to host and management. Knowing what is on the floor, identifying errors, and celebrating newfound accuracy and speed is a bottom-line impact that portends the demise of the RF Gun.

These are the data of the new Tablet solution versus the older RF Gun technology:

  • Productivity is improved by 100% using the tablet vs. the RF Gun
  • Picks per hour are clocked at 600+ better than the RF Gun

The system is now operational at Huish’s distribution centers located in Salt Lake City, Utah and Vancouver, BC Canada. Both sites will be utilizing the latest version of WOS, fully integrated with their NetSuiteTM ERP Software.

As Huish continues to expand its business through the acquisition of companies serving the diving community, the need to better manage the logistics of receiving, storing and shipping of products without the use of traditional paper process has resulted in their implementation of WOS. The ability to know where products are stored by simply scanning product barcodes enables operators to quickly store received products in their correct locations while providing real-time inventory accuracy.  In addition actual images of each product can be displayed on the tablet screen so pickers can clearly identify the correct product.  With the continued expansion of products offered to dive enthusiasts and the need to also expand its workforce to fulfill increased order volumes, the implementation of a user friendly warehouse operating system coupled with product visualization was critical in keeping warehousing cost down and order accuracy extremely high.

The integration of WOS with NetSuiteTM to distribute customer orders directly to warehouse personnel enables operators to rapidly pick items utilizing barcoded bin locations in addition to unique product barcodes for extremely accurate product selection, these two system features coupled with the capability to display product images were critical in Huish’s selection of a warehouse operations software solution for integration into their distribution centers.  Huish’s first installation was completed in their Salt Lake City, Utah distribution center in December of last year, with their second installation in Vancouver, BC Canada being completed in early 2015. Together these two systems provide Huish with the ability to manage their distribution centers through a common NetSuiteTM interface for order fulfillment and inventory management.   The integration to the NetSuiteTM software was done at Huish utilizing the powerful API’s of the WOS software which can be seamlessly integrated into most ERP systems providing real time two way communications.

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, January 16, 2015 — Warehouse Mobile Solutions, a Logistics Solutions provider, has completed its installation for the newest release of its Tablet Directed, Barcode/Order Fulfillment Solution, WarehouseOSTM, “WOS”. The system is now operational at CampSaver’s retail store and ecommerce fulfillment center located in Nibley, Utah. It will be the first application utilizing the latest version of WOS, Version 2.0, fully integrated with Monsoon Stone Edge Ecommerce Order Management Software.

Consider implementing a new Software System for inventory management and order fulfillment a month prior to your busiest season of the year, “Black Friday – Christmas”. With CampSaver’s rapid sales growth and product expansion it became critical to increase inventory capacities. The option: expand to an outside facility or find a software product enabling them to maximize storage by combining different items in the same bin location. The implementation of WarehouseOS made this possible as items can now be stored in any location by warehouse personnel, even if there is already a different item in the bin! In addition actual images of each product are displayed on the tablet screen so pickers can clearly identify the correct product. The need to quickly manage inbound purchase orders and inventory for their on-premise retail store with a simple and affordable software solution forced them to move from their current barcode tracking system.

The integration with Monsoon Stone Edge enables CampSaver to distribute ecommerce orders directly to warehouse personnel for highly efficient order fulfillment and extremely accurate inventory management. As a result of this fully integrated solution CampSaver has eliminated the need to expand its warehouse and can rapidly fulfill orders by picking with full product visualization. For those within the Stone Edge User Community desiring to achieve reduced order fulfillment cost and the benefits of inventory visualization it can now be accomplished with WarehouseOS. The integration to the Stone Edge software was done at CampSaver utilizing the powerful API’s of the WarehouseOS software which can be seamlessly integrated into your facility in about a week.

With this fully integrated solution orders are received and managed through Stone Edge and then passed to WarehouseOS which directs and manages tablet devices (iPads). The tablets are mounted in a quick-connect, light weight enclosure, swappable between the mobile picking carts on the warehouse floor for receiving, product putaway, replenishment, picking, and order verification. A unique feature of the system is the capability to assign different levels of inventory availability to products as well as locations, keeping warehouse personnel from being sent to the on-premise store to fill customer orders when inventory is still available in the warehouse. The need for this feature, which had been unavailable to CampSaver in the past, resulted in developing workarounds to meet their requirements and keep inventory on the retail store shelves.

The Warehouse Mobile Solutions system implemented for CampSaver incorporates 10 iPads mounted in our New Lite injection molded enclosures utilizing a quick disconnect system and 10 mobile picking carts, each equipped with a swivel bracket designed to accept the iPad Lite enclosures. This unique design allows operators to store and pick products without the use of paper or cumbersome hand-held mobile terminals. Operators simply scan items and locations as directed by the mounted tablet devices. The tablets are controlled wirelessly by a system manager, Tablet DirectorTM, which releases orders, schedules operators activities, and tracks in-process orders throughout the entire order fulfillment process.

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, September 19, 2014 — Warehouse Mobile Solutions, A Logistics Solutions provider has recently completed the installation of its’ state-of-the-art Tablet Directed, Barcode/Order Fulfillment Solution, “WarehouseOS” at Kuhl’s international order fulfillment center located in Salt Lake City, Utah. To better serve its growing base of Outdoor Retailers and Ecommerce clients and ensure rapid and accurate order fulfillment, Kuhl modernized its distribution center to include the power of a barcoded order fulfillment system integrated into its existing ERP System. This highly efficient order fulfillment solution enables Kuhl to support its’ rapidly expanding customer base.

With the need to optimize the order fulfillment process to support the vastly different order demographics for larger retail orders and small ecommerce orders, Kuhl was faced with the challenge of implementing a system capable of receiving, storing and picking products for both types of orders utilizing barcoding to ensure order accuracy and reduce order fulfillment times.

To meet this challenge HOJ Engineering worked with Kuhl to reconfigure their order fulfillment center parallel with the integration of the WarehouseOS Software to the Full Circle ERP software. The WarehouseOS Software directs and manages Tablet Computers (iPads) mounted in a quick connect enclosure, swappable between the mobile picking carts on the warehouse floor, for product slotting, replenishment, picking, and order verification.

A unique feature of the system is the capability to batch up to 50 orders together onto a single mobile picking cart. The operators utilize the new “BATCH BUILD” App to dynamically assign orders to the carts and then are directed through the warehouse once to pick all 50 orders! This feature was a key element to enable Kuhl to fulfill their ecommerce orders at the beginning of each day in just a few hours, where in the past it had taken almost half of their day. This now leaves them sufficient time to fulfill the large retail orders.

The entire system was reconfigured, and fully integrated in less than a month, allowing Kuhl to have the system and software tested and operational prior to their peak 2014 season. The integration of the WarehouseOS Software with Kuhl’s Full Circle ERP system allows orders to be seamlessly distributed to the warehouse operators in real time. The power of the WarehouseOS software system to track and manage the fulfillment center inventory utilizes the powerful “INVENTORY” Module. This Add-On Module allows operators to store inventory in Random Locations to maximize storage capacity while at the same time substantially minimize put-away times often associated with directed put-away.

The Warehouse Mobile Solutions system implemented for Kuhl incorporates 15 iPads mounted in innovative stainless steel enclosures utilizing a quick disconnect system and 15 Mobile picking carts each equipped with a swivel bracket designed to accept the iPad Enclosures. This unique design allows operators to store and pick products without the use of paper or cumbersome hand help mobile terminals. Operators simply scan items and locations as directed by the tablet computer, mounted to picking carts in the Stainless Steel Enclosure. The tablet computers are controlled wirelessly by a system manager, “Tablet Director”, which releases orders, schedules operators activities, and tracks in-process orders throughout the entire order fulfillment process.

Warehouse Mobile Solutions, a logistics solutions provider, is expanding its’ state-of-the-art tablet directed, barcode & order fulfillment solution at Diversity-Vuteq, LLC, located in Princeton, Indiana. During 2013 Diversity-Vuteq implemented the Warehouse Mobile Solutions System to ensure order accuracy and eliminate the current operational requirement of performing a secondary order verification process. Initially implemented for picking and order verification, the system will now be expanded to manage purchase order receipts and daily production orders.

Diversity-Vuteq, a producer of automobile interior car parts located in Princeton, Indiana, will be expanding the Warehouse Mobile Solutions System to direct and manage the tablet computers (iPads) mounted in a quick connect enclosure, swappable between their mobile picking carts and their pallet jacks for P.O. receiving, product slotting, picking, production orders, and customer order verification. Operators now simply scan the rack location barcode and the barcode on the Kanban card for each tote to instantly confirm order accuracy for each line item picked, thus guaranteeing the accuracy of each order. This feature eliminated the need for a secondary operator to “Double Check” each item in order to ensure 100% accuracy.

The Warehouse Mobile Solutions Order Fulfillment System has been configured to enable Diversity-Vuteq to simply drop an Excel Spreadsheet containing customer orders into a folder which is accessed by “Tablet Director”. Orders are then automatically released for fulfillment. In addition the Warehouse Mobile Solutions system is responsible to maintain overall inventory for the finished goods storage area, thus automatically keeping track of every item received and picked. This feature eliminates the need for operators to maintain tedious inventory spreadsheets and enables management to know exact inventory quantities in each location, by simply scanning a product barcode or performing a query in Tablet Director.

The Warehouse Mobile Solutions system implemented at Diversity-Vuteq will now incorporate 10 iPads mounted in innovative stainless steel enclosures utilizing a quick disconnect system, 10 Mobile picking carts equipped with a swivel bracket, 3 desk top stations and  3 pallet Jacks equipped with a unique multi-directional swivel bracket each designed to accept the iPad Enclosures . This unique design allows operators to store and pick products without the use of paper or cumbersome hand held mobile terminals. Operators simply scan items and locations as directed by the tablet computer. The tablet computers are controlled wirelessly by a system manager, “Tablet Director”, which release orders, schedules operators activities, and tracks in-process orders throughout the entire order fulfillment process.   .
