Warehouse Mobile Solutions, a logistics solutions provider, has been selected as Anchor 3PL’s supplier to implement its’ state-of-the-art tablet directed, barcode & order fulfillment solution. To better serve its growing base of ecommerce fulfillment clients and ensure same day order fulfillment, Anchor 3PL expanded its distribution center designed by HOJ Engineering and Sales. This highly efficient expansion will enable Anchor 3PL to support its’ rapidly expanding customer base of ecommerce fulfillment clients.

With the addition of their newest client, Fishwest (The world’s top fly shop), Anchor 3PL was faced with the challenge to implement a system capable of receiving, storing and shipping ecommerce orders for over 20,000 unique items in less than a week. Most Logistics and Warehousing Software companies would consider this impossible!

To meet this challenge HOJ Engineering configured and installed a storage and picking system dedicated to handle Fishwest products, parallel with the integration of the Warehouse Mobile Solutions System to direct and manage the Tablet Computers (iPads) mounted in a quick connect enclosure, swappable between the Mobile picking carts on the warehouse floor, for product slotting, replenishment, picking, and order verification.

The entire system was installed on a Friday, items were received and stored over the weekend, with orders being fulfilled on Monday, all in preparation for two of the largest ecommerce days of the year, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Anchor 3PL Founder and CEO, Sam Souvall stated, “Fishwest presented a unique challenge with multiple SKUs per location and multiple locations per SKU. Our WMS could not accommodate that level of complexity. We had been analyzing warehouse management systems for some months but things became critical shortly before Thanksgiving when Fishwest came on board. We are amazed at the impact Warehouse Mobile Solutions™ has had on our operation. And to have it operational over a weekend is brilliant.”

In addition Anchor 3PL integrated the tablet direct software with its’ host, 3PL Central system to track and manage the internet fulfillment center inventory utilizing the powerful Inventory Module. This add-on module allows operators to store inventory in random locations to maximize storage capacity while at the same time substantially minimize put-away times often associated with directed put-away.

The Warehouse Mobile Solutions system implemented for Anchor 3PL incorporates 3 iPads mounted in innovative stainless steel enclosures utilizing a quick disconnect system and 4 Mobile picking carts each equipped with a swivel bracket designed to accept the iPad Enclosures. This unique design allows operators to store and pick products without the use of paper or cumbersome hand help mobile terminals. Operators simply scan items and locations as directed by the tablet computer, mounted to picking carts in a lockable stainless steel enclosure. The tablet computers are controlled wirelessly by a system manager, “Tablet Director”, which release orders, schedules operators activities, and tracks in-process orders throughout the entire order fulfillment process.

Each warehouse is run completely different depending on a number of factors, such as the products the company produces, the size of the warehouse, and the number of employees in the warehouse. Even with that, there are a few things that most warehouse workers do on a daily basis to keep the building running as smoothly as possible.warehouse 1

Organization

Organization is crucial in a warehouse. If there isn’t a system to check what products are there, and what needs to be replenished, the company will have a hard time functioning. One of the main purposes of the warehouse is for storage of the most important things for the company.

Things are usually shipped directly from the manufacturer to the warehouse, and from there to customers. In the stages between these two steps, the products must remain organized so they can be redistributed efficiently.

Shipping and receiving

The warehouse functions on shipping and receiving. Warehouse workers receive the shipments on the dock, and document when they arrive, and what they brought. These records assist the organization process, allowing warehouse workers to buy only the necessary supplies, avoiding overstocking the warehouse or risking a dangerously low supply.

The shipping is just as important for warehouse workers. There are multiple checkpoints among workers who ship products to customers, or to job sites. Whatever leaves the warehouse must be carefully documented to restock properly.warehouse 2

Cleaning up the warehouse is key. Depending on the type of warehouse run, a lot of waste can be produced through packaging and labeling. Cleaning up and organizing trash to be thrown away, recycled, or reused is key for warehouse workers.

Those dealing with material handling can have a difficult task at times, but through proper organization, and the best warehouse workers, the tasks can be finished efficiently.

Who Are We and What Can We Do for your Company?

HOJ Engineering has recently released a new mobile product that is meant to revolutionize your business. This product, Warehouse Mobile Solutions (WMS), is actually a set of applications made to replace the heavy, hard to carry around RF Guns that have been used for years.

These apps can be placed onto an iPad, which can then be mounted into a industrial level mount or enclosure so that it will be strong enough to last in a warehouse location.

How the Apps Work

warehouse-management-solutions-are-increasingly-integrating-with-mob_16001038_28703_1_14084187_500-300x300

There are various applications that work for many uses and with all data models that you currently have for your business; including accounting, orders, inventory and even management.

Perhaps the best feature of this system is that one iPad serves as host and can send information to and from the office and warehouse on a simple, lightweight, yet sturdy iPad “fleet” of tablets.

The Apps include:

Single Pick – For picking individual orders. This app works by turning green when the correct item’s bar code is scanned.

Batch Pick – For picking multiple orders. It works by simultaneously putting orders into the system and can hold up to 99 different orders at a time. Individual carts will turn green when the cart has the correct number of the item ordered. If there aren’t enough of each item, the cart will turn red and then you can adjust the quantity right from the app before moving to the next item on the list.

Pre-Pick – This works by picking and labeling before the order is released. This allows the picker/fulfillment team to work quickly when the order is confirmed.

Slotting – This helps in the warehouse by tracking pallets of products using bar code rack locations. This can eliminate the need for paper products all together and will make the pallets easier to find and inventory more accurate. You can even sort based on FIFO (First-in-first-out).

Verify – This is also used to rapidly verify that the order is correctly packed and ready to be shipped to the customer.

Cycle Count – This is the last application currently available through WMS. This is an inventory system that allows for more efficient and reliable numbers for your business.

Request a free demo of the WMS, by visiting the “Contact Us” page if you are still unsure if this is the system you are looking for.
