Warehouse Mobile Solutions, a logistics solutions provider, has been selected as Anchor 3PL’s supplier to implement its’ state-of-the-art tablet directed, barcode & order fulfillment solution. To better serve its growing base of ecommerce fulfillment clients and ensure same day order fulfillment, Anchor 3PL expanded its distribution center designed by HOJ Engineering and Sales. This highly efficient expansion will enable Anchor 3PL to support its’ rapidly expanding customer base of ecommerce fulfillment clients.
With the addition of their newest client, Fishwest (The world’s top fly shop), Anchor 3PL was faced with the challenge to implement a system capable of receiving, storing and shipping ecommerce orders for over 20,000 unique items in less than a week. Most Logistics and Warehousing Software companies would consider this impossible!
To meet this challenge HOJ Engineering configured and installed a storage and picking system dedicated to handle Fishwest products, parallel with the integration of the Warehouse Mobile Solutions System to direct and manage the Tablet Computers (iPads) mounted in a quick connect enclosure, swappable between the Mobile picking carts on the warehouse floor, for product slotting, replenishment, picking, and order verification.
The entire system was installed on a Friday, items were received and stored over the weekend, with orders being fulfilled on Monday, all in preparation for two of the largest ecommerce days of the year, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Anchor 3PL Founder and CEO, Sam Souvall stated, “Fishwest presented a unique challenge with multiple SKUs per location and multiple locations per SKU. Our WMS could not accommodate that level of complexity. We had been analyzing warehouse management systems for some months but things became critical shortly before Thanksgiving when Fishwest came on board. In addition Anchor 3PL integrated the tablet direct software with its’ host, 3PL Central system to track and manage the internet fulfillment center inventory utilizing the powerful Inventory Module. This add-on module allows operators to store inventory in random locations to maximize storage capacity while at the same time substantially minimize put-away times often associated with directed put-away.
The Warehouse Mobile Solutions system implemented for Anchor 3PL incorporates 3 iPads mounted in innovative stainless steel enclosures utilizing a quick disconnect system and 4 Mobile picking carts each equipped with a swivel bracket designed to accept the iPad Enclosures. This unique design allows operators to store and pick products without the use of paper or cumbersome hand help mobile terminals. Operators simply scan items and locations as directed by the tablet computer, mounted to picking carts in a lockable stainless steel enclosure. The tablet computers are controlled wirelessly by a system manager, “Tablet Director”, which release orders, schedules operators activities, and tracks in-process orders throughout the entire order fulfillment process.
